Floor of Belgian Noir de Mazy church tiles & Italian white marble tiles.
Bring together character, history, and timeless elegance in one unique floor with these original Belgian church tiles, also known as Basècles. These remarkable tiles are crafted from Noir de Mazy limestone from the Namur region in Wallonia — a deep black, virtually fossil-free natural stone that clearly distinguishes itself from the more common Belgian bluestone.
The quarries from which this stone originated were closed decades ago, making this material scarce and highly sought after today. Each tile therefore carries not only exceptional quality, but also a piece of heritage.
The tiles are roughly 11.6 x 11.6 inches and weigh around 13 lbs each. The stone features a smooth, lightly polished surface that creates a refined and luxurious appearance in any setting.
This lot also includes complementary tiles in various types of Italian white marble. This combination makes it possible to create a stylish and classic checkerboard pattern, resulting in a striking visual contrast. The black and white floor consist of 336 pieces in total, the lot covers a total floor area of approximately 315 sq ft.
With a total weight of approximately 4,400 lbs, this is a solid and durable flooring solution built to last for generations.
A unique opportunity to give a historic natural stone floor a second life — full of character, rare, and ready to be incorporated into both classic and contemporary interiors.
The price is for the entire lot.
