Unique 18th-century Dutch fireplace mantel.

This mantel is unique due to its design. Crafted by an unknown Dutch stonemason from a Belgian red marble.

What makes this mantel exceptional are the heavy jambs that project forward to support the front frieze. Thanks to the artistic application of rocaille motifs, this is executed in an extremely fluid manner. Above the jambs are large rocailles supporting the frieze. In the center of the curved frieze, a large symmetrical shell motif is carved. The corners of the top shelf are rounded to create a convex shape.

This mantel is ideally suited for installation in a prestigious room within a historic house.
